What the Yakima Valley actually is

The Yakima Valley is a region of south-central Washington stretching roughly from the city of Yakima east to the Tri-Cities. The western part of the valley centers on Yakima (~99,000) and Selah (~8,300), with Naches and Tieton as smaller satellites. The valley then opens east through the Lower Yakima Valley wine country and into the Tri-Cities MSA — Richland, Kennewick, Pasco — about 320,000 people at the confluence of the Yakima, Snake, and Columbia Rivers.
